Unique Services have partnered with Envirolyte to become the first approved applicator for their new Anolyte surface sanitiser.
Late last year we wrote about a new technology that we were very excited about.
At the time, we were negotiating to become the first approved Envirolyte NZ Ltd applicator, for their Anolyte surface sanitiser, and we’re now happy to announce those negotiations were a success.
Envirolyte
Envirolyte are a wholly owned and operated New Zealand company, offering industry safe, organic, broad spectrum commercial cleaning products.
They specialise in commercial applications such as water treatments, hard surface disinfection and biofilm removal, and are therefore, a perfect match for us and the services we provide.
After completing successful discussions we are proud to be working with Envirolyte and Sanitas Technologies Ltd to promote the total solution concept jointly offered by the two companies.
Electrolysed water
As is common with new technologies, there is a lot of confusion around exactly what electrolysed water is, how it works, and how it is different from “activated water”. After receiving a number of queries from potential clients, we thought it would be beneficial to clarify the situation.
I’m the first to admit I didn’t have a clue what the difference was until I started using Google, and apart from the fact that a little knowledge can be dangerous, I will try!
Activated water cleaning products and electrolysed water (Anolyte) both use water which has had an electric current passed through it, but have completely different methods of biological control.
Activated Water
Activated Water technology uses solid state-activated water sprayers and scrubbers which apply a very small electric current to potable tap water.
This breaks down the water molecules, lowering the natural surface tension and generating positive and negatively charged water ions. These charged ions attach to dirt particles and help lift them from dirty surfaces.
The current also generates nano-sized gas bubbles which enable the dirt particles to be suspended in the water, then wiped away.
As a sanitiser, activated water works by “electroporation”. This applies a low level electric field to bacteria and viruses, which breaks down the wall of bacterial and viral cells. Special hand held units are required to activate the water to become conductive, so electroporation occurs.
Electrolysed water
Anolyte (electrolysed water) also uses tap water but with the addition of table salt.
The special generators use a combination of salt, cell technology and electricity to create a non-toxic antimicrobial solution.
The sanitizing characteristics are different with this technology. The high oxidation potential of the water first damages bacterial cell walls, allowing infiltration by water.
The microbe reaches capacity, causing an osmotic, or hydration, overload. The acidic fluid and water floods the cell more rapidly than the cell can expel it, literally causing the cell to burst.
When it was first developed, electrolysed water had a limited shelf life, that necessitated companies having their own generator.
Envirolyte NZ Ltd use a specifically designed generating device that produces a product, that has a twelve-month shelf life, which can be used by us for clients who don’t want to incur the cost of their own generator.
Staying ahead of the pack
This is just one example of how we keep up with the latest technologies and sanitation methods.
By using cutting edge technology and partnering with fore-thinking companies like Envirolyte, we can ensure the very highest standards of sanitation and cleanliness are extended to our clients.
